I-Sangiovese begade iqatjangwa bonyana yathulwa eSewula Afrika ngo-1970s, kodwana amarekhodi (2016) akhombisa ubudala bamasimu atjalwa eplasini le-Boplaas ngo-1982. Esewula Afrika, indawo engange-69 ha ye-Sangiovese intaliwe.

Imihlobawo ekhiqiza iwayini yezinga eliphezulu yangeniswa enarheni ngo-1991.

Inengi leentjalo zama-Sangiovese zitholakala e-Stellenbosch (26ha), Swartland (19ha).

Ukukhula

I-Sangiovese ikhombisa isilinganiso esiphakathi sokukghona ukujamelana ne-downy mildew kanti-ke ihlulwa khulu kukonakala okubizwa nge-powdery mildew kanye ne-botrytis.

Umsebenzawo

Esewula Afrika, i-Sangiovese isetjenziselwa ukwenza iwayini ebizwa nge-dry red wines. Umhlobo lo wesimilo unezinga eliphezulu le-esede kanye nombala okhanyako ungezelela emivangweni kodwana kunokukhula komkhiqizo wewayini engakavangwa yewayini. Amalunga wemivango emihle kungaba yi-Cabernet Sauvignon (ngesakhiwo kanye nombala) kanye ne-Merlot (ethambisako).

Inambitho

Amawayini aphuma phambili we-Sangiovese akhombisa amazinga amahle we-esede kanye nesakhiwo se-tannic emumethe inambitho lama-cherries kanye nama-plums ukuya emakelweni kanye nesimu.

Eminye iminambitho ifaka hlangana i-tabacco, cinnamon kanye ne-truffles kanye nama-mulberies. I- Sangiovese encani ikhombisa ama-chery asesematjha, kanye nenambitho elibabako ekugcineni.
