Walter Ulyate Max Sisulu born in 1912, was a South African anti-apartheid activist and a member of the African National Congress (ANC). He served as the Secretary-General and Deputy President of the ANC during his time with the organization.
Sadly Walter Sisulu passed away on the 5th May 2003 at the age of 91, in the arms of his wife Albertina.
This image shows, Nelson Mandela and Makhenkesi Arnold Stofile at Walter Sisulu’s funeral at Orlando Stadium on the 17th May 2003. Many dignitaries attended the funeral service. Sisulu was buried in Croesus Cemetery in Newclare, Johannesburg.
Speakers who delivered the sermon were Thabo Mbeki, Nelson Mandela, and Archbishop Desmond Tutu.
