Nelson Mandela frequently received visitors at his home on the corner of Ngakane Streets and Vilakazi in Orlando West, Soweto. These visitors were friends, colleagues, African National Congress supporters, religious leaders and political affiliates.

As seen in this image, Nelson Mandela greets his “Imbongi”, (in traditional African society) a composer and orator of poems praising a chief or other figurehead.

“It is what we make out of what we have given, not what we are given, that separates one person from another.” ~ Nelson Mandela
