Life Magazine was an American magazine that focused mostly on photojournalism. It was bought by Time in 1936 and continued to publish weekly and then monthly until 2000.

Nelson Mandela appeared in Life Magazine a month after he was released from prison in 1990. It was an iconic spread which featured his life and struggle for freedom.

Mandela has since appeared on numerous magazines globally, including Time, the Guardian, Drum and the New Yorker.
