The Mziki Hiking Trails’ overnight hut in iSimangaliso Wetland Park originally built as an observation and radar post by the U-boat-hunting Catalina squadron, based here during WWII.
What they did for ablutions back then is open to speculation, but today trialists shower under a bucket in the dune forest behind the hut, while the loo is located a short way down a path in front of it, overlooking the great expanse of St Lucia Estuary. 'Overlooking' being the pertinent word, because while it's got a simple roof and reed walls on three sides, the view in front is interrupted only by your imagination.
