While there is no membership of Culdevco (Pty) Ltd, the company is owned collectively by the five deciduous fruit organisations mentioned previously. The company exists for the benefit of the producers who contribute towards these organisations.

The producers who contribute towards the five deciduous fruit organisations benefit from Culdevco’s commercialised new varieties through access to plant material of these new varieties. They qualify to apply to Culdevco (Pty) Ltd for an allocation of young trees or vines of these new varieties.

Culdevco regularly travels abroad in search of unique new varieties and also to visit licensees in various fruit producing countries of the world. Currently there are more than 150 varieties under the management of Culdevco (Pty) Ltd, which include varieties of apples, pears, plums, peaches, nectarines, apricots, and table grapes, as well as apple and stone fruit rootstocks.

Culdevco offers extensive information on fruit varieties for farmers in need of specialised resources. It includes the in-depth analysis of tree characteristics, soil requirements, fruit characteristics, production cycle, harvesting, storage and general remarks of all fruit varieties under Culdevco.

Furthermore, Culdevco allows members access to tenders for varieties, as well as presentations on marketing and licensing of fruit, market trends and global production.
