Culdevco (Pty) Ltd has an active marketing campaign aimed at producers, technical advisors, exporters, importers, and major international supermarkets.

Consumer trends allow for specific marketing strategies, as the demand for certain products rises. Currently, the following fruits are popular in South African markets: Lower to medium chilling plum varieties that are relatively disease resistant, with a good production ability.

A large number of exciting new red flesh plum selections are currently under evaluation and already planted in semi-commercial orchards in different sites in South Africa, Spain and England; blushed apricots that are well-adapted for the South African lower chilling conditions; earlier apricot varieties suitable for canning, and canning peaches in general, but especially for varieties prior to ripening weeks 6 and 7.

One of the strategies is regular orchard walks that are held at different farms. The aim is to show interested parties new promising apple, blushed pear, table grape and stone fruit selections. From these orchard walks new promising selections are identified that in future will be planted semi-commercially on commercial farms for further evaluation under different climatic conditions.

Furthermore, Culdevco markets their deciduous fruits in agricultural publications such as Farmer’s Weekly, CountryLife and other online magazines and newsletters.
