Culdevco (Pty) Ltd works closely with the deciduous fruit breeders at the ARC in the process of selecting and evaluating promising new deciduous fruit varieties.
Once a new variety has proved to be successful, it is registered and released to the industry for propagation and cultivation. The process of propagating the seedlings and the volume allocation of plant material to growers are all done under the auspices of Culdevco (Pty) Ltd.
Culdevco implements optimised evaluation procedures to accurately identify and evaluate stone fruit, pome fruit, and table and raisin grape varieties that are easy to grow with low risk to the growers. These cultivars are also selected for their popularity in the international markets. Culdevco (Pty) Ltd makes use of experienced evaluators, technical advisors, producers, and other independent organizations to further assist them in identifying promising new varieties.
The range of released deciduous fruit cultivars under Culdevco management are pro-actively marketed locally and internationally. Many of these varieties remain in high demand locally and internationally.
