Woodbury Lodge is perched on a hillside overlooking the Bushman’s River floodplain within the Amakhala Reserve. Views are panoramic, and guests can enjoy an eagle’s eye view of the surrounding reserve. A walking trail further up the hill provides the opportunity for you to view your surroundings from an even higher vantage point. Here you can marvel at the open vistas and magnificent sunsets.
At Woodbury Lodge, you can spend your days exploring the Amakhala Game Reserve on twice daily game drives. Canter across the plains, in the non big game part on horseback, getting closer to the herds. Or, take a gentle cruise on the Bushmans River for some spectacular bird spotting. In between all the activities, you can feast on delicious meals freshly prepared to suit all palates. Indulge in fresh fruits and cereals followed by a cooked breakfast. Savour high teas, with light pastries and salads. Watch the sun sink onto the horizon whilst sipping your favourite beverage and nibbling on some snacks. Drink hot chocolate laced with Amarula next to the campfire. Treat your sweet tooth with delicate desserts, served after your evening meals.
The main lodge is the hub of activity in Woodbury Lodge. It is here that you can dine, relax and share stories after your day spent exploring Amakhala Reserve. Evening starlit gatherings around the fire are a mellow time when the day’s activities are discussed with fellow guests, and plans are made for the following exciting adventure into the South African bush.
