The Amakhala Game Reserve places emphasis on providing a first-class safari experience as well as preserving the natural environment and supporting surrounding communities.
In 2011 the reserve was named the Best Private Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape at the Annual Adventure Province Tourism and Conservation Awards.
Amakhala is also the only reserve in the Eastern Cape to have Fair Trade Certified Lodges, which endorses fair and responsible tourism practices in South Africa.
This means the Amakhala Game Reserve Accommodation adheres to criteria such as fair wages and working conditions, fair distribution of benefits, ethical business practice and upholding respect for human rights, culture and the environment.
