SA Olive aims to engage in activities that represent the collective interests of the national Olive Industry and is affiliated with Agri South Africa through Agri Western Cape.
One of the main objectives of SA Olive is to obtain, analyse and distribute information relevant to the olive industry and the association’s members.
The organisation endeavors to facilitate assistance for, and represent its members by acting as their mouthpiece. This is done through advocating, advancing and protecting members’ interests and acting on behalf of their members in dealing with relevant governmental departments, agricultural unions and other organisational bodies in the olive industry.
Assistance is provided through the creation of a positive marketing climate for their members to promote their products and activities. As part of this positive marketing drive strategy, the SA Olive Seal was introduced to educate and offer consumers a wide variety of only the highest quality and locally produced olive oils. This Commitment to Compliance Scheme (CTC) endorses olive oil producers’ products as being 100% South African with verified labeling and content according to international standards creating consumer confidence. Through the SA Olive Seal, SA Olive is committed to building a strong industry locally and internationally.
They strive to promote transformation in the industry through various channels such as the SA Olive mentorship programme introduced in 2008. The programme aims to create and develop opportunities for promising young mentees for a career in the olive industry by providing training and employment with SA Olive members and mentors.
The annual SA Olive Awards are hosted annually by SA Olive. The competition was created to pay tribute to as well as honour distinction and accomplishment in the olive oil industry. It is open to all entrants producing or retailing in extra virgin olive oil in the current season and is judged by an endorsed panel of international and local experts.
