Nelson Mandela shares a special moment with his great granddaughter Zenani.

Spending time with his family was very important to Nelson Mandela as he had been denied contact with them for so long whilst he was imprisoned.

Tragically, Mandela’s family has had to suffer much loss and suffering. Zenani who had just turned 13 in 2010 was killed in a car crash on the way home from the World Cup opening concert.

Zenani was described as "an angel gone too soon" and "a ray of sunshine" who loved cooking and setting up beauty pageants and fashion shows.

“Of course we desire education and we think it is a good thing, but you don’t have to have education in order to know that you want certain fundamental rights, you have got aspirations, you have got claims.” ~ Nelson Mandela
