The SA Litchi Growers’ Association (SALGA) is a membership-based organisation that is run by specialists and litchi growers who have a keen interest in the litchi industry.
Ultimately any bona fide litchi grower, special interest group or individual with a keen interest in the production of litchi and the litchi industry, is eligible to join the association as a member. However, the South African Litchi Growers’ Association reserves the right to accept or reject membership applications at their discretion.
SA Litchi Growers’ Association creates a space for community, research and access that can improve the litchi growing industry at a more rapid rate than an individual could, as the organisation functions to create a community of people sharing knowledge about the industry. Membership is therefore made up of and open to any individual litchi grower, cooperation, export member or company.
Once a member of the South African Litchi Growers’ Association, access will be granted to all the organisation, and organisation partners, membership benefits. As a recognized industry body by the government, SALGA, through Subtrop, is involved in the Department of Agriculture, Land Reform and Rural Development.
Therefore membership within SA Litchi Growers’ Association extends its relationship to these organisations therefore SA Litchi Growers’ Association members may benefit from information shared between organisations and make inputs on political processing regarding the litchi growing industry.
