The South African Rooibos Council has as its members most of the major Rooibos Tea marketing brands.
Jointly, the membership of the South African Rooibos Council represents an estimated 80% of the volume and value of the annual production and sales of Rooibos tea. These include a range of businesses that package and sell products derived from rooibos tea and includes companies that have rooibos tea as their sole product and other large brand businesses that produce and market a wide range of other products.
In addition to the companies that market rooibos tea for consumption, membership includes companies which produce and market products which incorporate rooibos tea extracts in the production of pharmaceutical as well as health and beauty products.
As the South African Rooibos Council is the official body representing the Rooibos Tea industry in South Africa, membership of the council provides members with the benefit of the initiatives that the council undertakes on behalf of the industry.
This includes the council’s engagement with government on legislative issues, such as market access to international markets, assuring geographical indication status in key international markets as well as the interface between government and industry legal issues, industry standards and compliance.
