The 13 300ha of dense riverine forest, bushveld, and rocky outcrops makes MalaMala Camp world renown for wildlife viewing between the Kruger and the Sabi Sand Reserve in South Africa.
At MalaMala Camp exciting game drives embark into the bush twice a day and allows the chance to track the Big Five, with plenty of lion and leopard sightings in this area.
There are also two cheetah brothers that are occasionally spotted within the area as well as four packs of African wild dog. These drives occur early in the morning and late in the afternoon and are conducted in specialised safari vehicles with qualified rangers who use radio communication to keep one another informed of game sighting locations.
MalaMala has even appeared in National Geographic documentaries. An abundance of plant and birdlife can be spotted on these walking trails, which is led by an armed game guide. The objective is to track and learn about the small creatures that are difficult to spot on game drives at MalaMala Camp.
A hearty breakfast and light lunch can be enjoyed in the dining room. At MalaMala Camp dinner is served by lantern light in the reed enclosed boma, under the Jackalberry tree. An alternative and weather permitting dining option is a candlelit dinner on the viewing deck.
Children of all ages are welcome at MalaMala Camp. However, children aged five and under are not permitted to partake on game drives or allowed in the boma for dinner. A childminder can also be arranged at your request.
On arrival, a ranger will be assigned to your family, who will create a personal program with various activities to entertain and educate your children. Families with children can book sole use of a safari vehicle for game drives.
