At Buffalo Ridge Safari Lodge Local guides drive out twice a day and take pride in teaching visitors about the land where they were raised.
They make the bush more enchanting with the stories they tell about the animals that frequent this section of the Madikwe Reserve. You will find a great variety of game here, including the Big 5, especially the best place to find Buffalos. The many varieties of birds will amaze bird lovers –raptors include the Martial Eagle, the African Fish Eagle, the Secretary Bird and the Pale Chanting Goshawk. Spotted Eagle Owls are common here, as is the tiny Pearl spotted Owl.
No two game drives are alike. What is seen during the early morning drives will differ from those on the evening drive. The nocturnal animals and birds that shelter during the day can be seen when their eyes flash in the light of the safari vehicles. Game sightings on the 2 main drives could include lion, leopard, buffalo and elephant herds, black and white rhino, cheetah, brown and spotted hyena, giraffe, zebra and many different antelope.
Delicious meals are served in the communal dining room in the main lodge at Buffalo Ridge Safari Lodge, which blends with the surroundings, with its wood and stone décor. Special preferences like Halal food are available if ordered in advance. Dinner served under the myriad of stars in the outside boma is a highlight of Safari dining.
