The tented Thakadu River Camp is a lavish “Out of Africa” experience with maximum sophistication
Thakadu, owned by the Batlokwa people, is one of 2 camps that are part of an eco-tourism partnership between North West Parks, the Motlatedi Community and the Nature Workshop
Thakadu’s position on the banks of the Marico River makes this a birdwatchers paradise
The pool and bar areas overlook the river, which makes for wonderful lazy game viewing
Family units are available and children of all ages are catered for.
Thakadu River Camp accommodation is in tents – but this is “glamping” (glamorous camping) at its best. The tents contain a spacious bed/sitting room and beautiful bathroom that one would never imagine could be found in a tent.
Thakadu is set in the Madikwe Reserve, which is known for its plentiful game, much of which was introduced via Operation Phoenix, which saw thousands of animals being brought to the reserve in the ‘90’s. The rewards of this conservation drive are evident, making this a very special place to safari.
