Camp Shawu is an authentic African safari camp situated in the famous Kruger National Park. The Camp is named after one of the most famous African elephants, Shawu, who was part of a group of elephants known as the Magnificent Seven.
Shawu had the longest tusks ever recorded in South Africa! The Camp captures the spirit of the Africam bushveld, while offering guests luxury and tranquillity in the classic Kruger style any safari-lover has come to know.
Camp Shawu offers a gorgeous view over Mpanamana Dam, which attracts herds of elephants, cape buffalo, zebra, impala and wildebeests. Many birds make a daily appearance, as well as the local hippos. Aside from the animals, relaxing on the viewing deck, drink of choice in one hand, camera in the other, is another highlight of your stay at Camp Shawu.
Accommodation is simple yet comfortable, guests will appreciate romantic touches like the leather armchairs, ball and claw baths and outdoor showers. Meals and game drives are shared with other guests, which presents the opportunity to connect with travellers from all over.
The rangers will even pop in for dinner to share some amusing anecdotes of their time out in the bush. Nearby points of interest include the Panorama Route, reptile park, elephant sanctuary and hot-air ballooning activities.
Please note, Camp Shawu does not allow children under the age of 16 years.
