After the excitement from the ballooning experience, you can go and relax at the natural hot springs at Riemvasmaak. The hot mineral springs are found in a deep ravine where there are two pools that are dwarfed by 80m granite cliffs.
The spring has been in use for centuries and was used by the Damaras who believed the spring had wonderful curative powers, especially for those suffering from rheumatism.
The Damara and Koranna people were nomadic herders who grazed their herds of goats in this harsh climate until they were ousted by the government in the 1970s. The military moved in, setting up a training ground, but it was eventually returned to the children of the original Riemvasmakers after 1994.
