The Mhondoro Safari Lodge is situated in the 33 000 hectare Welgevonden Game Reserve and is home to over 50 animal species including the Big 5.
Game Viewing
The habitats of the reserve are diverse, attracting a variety of antelope such as the eland and duiker as well as big cats such as lion, leopard and cheetah. More than 300 bird species are also found in the reserve, making it a very sought-after bird watching destination.
Twice-daily game drives are accompanied by professional and enthusiastic rangers and are scheduled for the morning and late afternoon. Special drives for younger children can be arranged. The luxury accommodation in the Welgevonden Game Reserve boasts an underground waterhole hide, which is connected to the main lodge through a 50 m reinforced concrete tunnel and makes for unique close-up animal viewing opportunities.
If you are looking to stretch your legs while exploring the bushveld you can take part in a very informative game walk where experienced rangers will take you up close-and-personal to nature while keeping you safe at all times.
Child Friendly
The Mhondoro Safari Lodge, is known as a family friendly lodge and with good cause. The spacious family suite and the exclusive use villa are perfect accommodations for a family safari. Plus the kiddies programme designed to keep little travellers entertained and engaged in nature. With kiddies bush walks, animal track moulding, welcome pack and work books, kiddies bumble drives keep them active whilst you can enjoy your safari, in the knowledge that your children are safe and happy. For older children there is archery, star gazing and cookie baking and decorating.
The elephant protected playground allows for your kiddies to let of steam in a safe environment. The heated swimming pools are also a fun place for the kids to utilise their energy.
Bush Dining
The Mhondoro Safari Lodge is a sought-after culinary destination and prides itself on serving healthy food with a distinct African twist made from only the freshest ingredients. The quality and visual presentation of the food is exceptional with produce being home-grown on the premises. As far as possible everything is homemade, including the snacks that are served on the game drives. All meals are beautifully plated in served in a variety of dining locations around the lodge.
A temperature- controlled wine cellar offers special wine tastings while a well-stocked bar has a large variety of beers, ciders and spirits to choose from.
