At this private game reserve in the Eastern Cape, nothing compares to those very first lion pride and elephant herd sightings while out on a game drive.
The best times for animal viewings are in the morning or evening, when the animals are most active. You can enjoy some Big 5 sightings, as well as zebra, warthog, rhino and giraffe at close quarters.
Antelope range from the eland to the duiker, with a huge variety in between, including the rare oribi and bontebok. Jackals are seen regularly, and there have been occasional sightings of caracals and aardvark. Standard game drives are not suitable for children under six years old.
Sibuya Game Reserve offers a variety of day trips around the region, which are led by a professional guide. These consist of a leisurely cruise along the Kariega River, which is followed by a game drive and a lunch at one of the lodges. There are half day and full trip options available, but these can also be personalised according to the occasion. These trips are ideal for wedding parties, year end functions, birthdays, and honeymoons.
The Kariega River attracts an abundant community of birds, which makes it an ideal location for avid birders. There is a record of nearly 400 bird species to be exact. The river, as well as the nearby coastline are also well suited to those looking to done some fishing while visiting Sibuya Game Reserve. As an optional activity, there is even the opportunity to take on some deep sea fishing.
