Named after Lord Charles Somerset in 1819, Somerset West is a bustling town in the Western Cape, South Africa. Nestled on the slopes of the Helderberg, the town is an ideal point from which to explore its scenic surroundings.

Somerset West is located on the scenic slopes of the Helderberg.

Somerset West is just 6 kilometres inland from the False Bay coast and the resort towns of Strand and Gordons Bay. It is 20 kilometres from Stellenbosch and its wine route, a mere 35 minutes' drive to Paarl, Wellington and Franschhoek, forming an integral part of the Winelands Region set against a gorgeous backdrop of the Hottentot-Holland Mountains.
