Perfect Bush Experience - Activities
Samara Private Game Reserve, Eastern Cape

The Sarili Lodge is situated in the beautiful Shamwari Game Reserve in the Eastern Cape and offers ample opportunity to closely encounter a large variety of animals including the ever-popular Big 5.

Game Viewing

The reserve is also home to a huge variety of bird species that include various raptors, Lapwings, Starlings, Ox Peckers and Darters, making it an absolute bird watcher’s heaven. Game drives are conducted twice-daily in open-roofed safari vehicles at the luxury safari accommodation for the whole family.

During the morning drive you will stop for coffee as you watch the bushveld awaken around you while sundowners await you during the late afternoon drive. Apart from the conventional game drives that are led by experienced and knowledgeable rangers, you can opt to participate in a guided game walk that will bring you into close proximity of smaller mammals and insects that you might have missed during the safari drive. Your guide will also share valuable information pertaining to tracking, dung identification and the fauna and flora that surrounds you.

Children

Family safaris are a time of bonding and sharing, and creating treasured memories that last. Sarili Lodge understands this and offers a Kids on Safari programme that keeps youngsters entertained whilst reinforcing the importance of nature conservation. With a dedicated children's coordinator planning various adventures for the young explorers your children are in safe hands and having fun. Children of 4 years and older can join you on safari whilst there is a babysitting service available for younger children.

The Born Free Big Cat Rescue and Education Centre

This rescue and education initiative runs in conjunction with the Born Free Foundation. Its primary focus is to keep wildlife in the wild. Rescued lions and leopards from across the globe are cared for at the rescue and education centres at Shamwari Game Reserve. The centre uses education to highlight the plight of the big cats due to the loss of habitat. A visit to the centre is quite an enlightening experience.

Bush Dining

The Sarili Lodge offers African dining at its absolute best as gourmet chefs set out to impress with their exceptional culinary skills.
