Family Relaxation - Activities
Samara Private Game Reserve, Eastern Cape

The Shamwari Game Reserve has often been hailed as one of the world’s leading safari destinations and consists of a variety of natural biomes that are home to a large variety of animals, including the ever-popular Big 5.

Game Viewing

Twice-daily game drives in open-roofed safari vehicles are offered at the Riverdene Family Lodge by expert game rangers eager to share their vast knowledge pertaining to the fauna and flora of the area with you.

During the morning drive you will stop for a coffee break while sundowners in the bushveld await you during the late-afternoon drive. The game reserve is home to an abundance of bird species that makes it a sought-after destination for avid bird watchers.

If you are seeking an alternative to a game drive you can join one of the highly informative and exhilarating game walks that will have a guide show you numerous animal tracks while pointing out many smaller animals and insects. At the Big Cat Rescue and Education Centre that is situated within the Shamwari Game Reserve your attention will be drawn to the plight of wild cats that are confined to impoverished, captive environments throughout the world.
