Undercover Farming aims to keep the standards of greenhouse farming in South Africa high and professional in order to compete at international levels.

The organisation not only provides a platform where farmers and interested parties can access production information, but also goes the extra mile by connecting new and established farmers with relevant suppliers and solution-providers.

Johan Swiegers and the Undercover Farming Team are credited for having saved the South African greenhouse industry’s family spirit by establishing the Undercover Farming Expo and Conference when AVUP closed down.

The Undercover Farming Expo and Conference is an annual convention of hydroponics, aquaponics (fish farming with leafy green plants floating) and shade net farmers (fruit, nuts, berries and flowers) and their suppliers, allowing delegates to rub shoulders with fellow producers and view and listen to the latest technological and production trends.

Undercover Farming strives to publish latest technologies in hydroponics, aquaponics and shade net farming as well as editorial content which include disease control, sanitary measures, management principles, packaging and market-readiness, electronic management systems and more.

Since the publication was started, it has been distributed through subscription and delivered by post to producers, industry suppliers, researchers, seed and chemical companies. Time brings change and 97% of the current readers in SADC and other foreign countries now receive electronic copies. Interested subscribers are welcome to contact suzanne@axxess.co.za.

Undercover Farming strongly believes that production under protection is the only way forward to feed thousands if not millions of under-fed children and families, because of the high outputs achieved per area with these systems.
