Journey with Friends - Activities
Sabi Sands, Kruger National Park

There are two game drives per day, during which game rangers and local Shangaan trackers will share their knowledge of the reserve.

Game Drives

As the lodge is situated on a dry riverbed, the surrounding habitat is favourable for leopards, as they tend to be found in the riverine and denser bush areas. Look out for the The Big 5, the 5 most difficult and dangerous animals to track; the leopard, rhino, lion buffalo and elephant.

Photographic Safaris

The Tusk Photo photographic safaris take place over a four day period at Elephant Plains Game Lodge. Two professional photographers accompany the morning and afternoon game drive vehicles on this safari. After breakfast, workshops led by trained experts will give you the opportunity to further develop your newly acquired wildlife photography skills.

Bush Walks

A walking safari allows you to really tune into the bush, to its sounds and smells, textures and colours. During this mid day trek, you can stretch your legs and get a closer look at animal tracks. Learn about the birds, grasses and trees, as well as smaller details of the bush that might fascinate you. Look out for those cute little dwarf mongooses as they poke their heads out of their burrows.

Kids Activities

If a family adventure is what you are after, look no further than Elephant Plains Game Lodge. Children of all ages are welcome here and there is a specialised children’s program that includes immersive activities such as painting, drawing, beading and mini bushwalks. Special children’s menus are also available and babysitting can be arranged by request.

Stargazing

An ideal place for stargazing, far away from the city lights. Ranger guides have completed a star gazing course through Cosmic Safari and will help you identify various constellations using the 8 Inch Orion Intelliscope. Or try your new found photographic skills with some ‘astrophotography’.
