Namaqua National Park to Hondeklipbaai
From Skilpad Rest Camp, you’re spoilt for choice to explore along the expansive network of Namaqua National Park roads spider-webbing along the rugged foothills towards the West Coast. Follow the route via Soebatsfontein and Koiingnaas to Hondeklipbaai, with a short excursion onto the Caracal Eco-Trail to venture up Wildeperdehoek Pass.
Skilpad Rest Camp disappears in the dust as you dip down towards the icy Atlantic through the rugged ridges characterising the Namaqua National Park. Juddery back roads side-wind past middle-of-nowhere spots like Soebatsfontein, Sarrisam, Soutfontein and eventually Koiingnaas as you cruise into the coastal approach.
All roads here seem to finally lead to Hondeklipbaai, and what a place. The is pretty much a haphazard holiday township set upon a piece of coast where the beauty is way beyond skin-deep. You have to work hard to find your pretty fix here..
