RegenAG SA membership is free of charge and open to anyone, from consumers to retailers, suppliers, farmers, agronomists and processors. Applications can be made via the website by filling in an electronic form or members can follow the group on Facebook.
By July 2020, the Regenerative Agriculture Association of South Africa had over a hundred members of which roughly a half were farmers. They had acquired an international following, with a thousand followers of their Facebook account of which 750 are South African.
The non-profit organisation has a WhatsApp platform where members are able to communicate and bounce ideas with one another in real time. As there are also members who are agronomists, farmers can often get more scientific based inputs and support.
RegenAG SA is launching the Food Club Hub in August 2020 to create an alternative food chain. The idea behind the Food Club Hub is to give consumers access to food that has been produced using regenerative farming practices and to give regenerative farmers access to an alternative market.
The organisation defines a food club as a community of like-minded people, who are concerned about the health impacts and environmental impacts of what they eat: “By buying regeneratively produced foods, consumers improve their and their community’s wellbeing, decrease their environmental footprint, while supporting farmers by ensuring they receive a fair price for their produce.”
