Your Experience

Named after Willem Pretorius, a Voortrekker buried in 1845 at a site near the Numbi Gate, Pretoriuskop stands as one of the oldest rest camps in the Kruger National Park.

Located on a kopje (little hill) in the southwestern corner of Kruger National Park, the game viewing at Pretoriuskop Rest Camp can best be described as first-rate. The mixed vegetation between the rocky outcrops, sweet grasslands and thick woodlands supports an exciting mix of birds and animals.

Small herds of antelope like eland and sable are common, with hippos and elephants regularly seen at the Mestel and Shitlhave dams. As for those skulking predators, hyena, leopard, African wild dog, and surprisingly, cheetah, all top the safari list.

To make the most of your game viewing opportunities, join the Pretoriuskop tracker-guides on morning bush walks or guided game drives which depart three times daily. Much like the wildlife, the accommodation options at Pretoriuskop Rest Camp in Kruger Park are also varied. Pretoriuskop Rest Camp facilities are also sound, with a petrol station, grocery store, cafeteria, pool and picnic areas available.
