Predation Management SA Membership Benefits

Members of Predation Management SA are actively involved in conversation with government and interested parties on standard predation management practices.

To achieve effective predation management in South Africa, PMSA aims to provide as much information as possible on predator animals, their impact on livestock production and how to manage them and unique situations they might cause.

PMSA works with various organisations and partners to disseminate information across agricultural sectors, so as to avoid misinformation and to create a space for mediation and good management practices.

Members receive a manual containing detailed knowledge and in-depth analysis of the complexities of predation management has been finalised. In seeking solutions, the PMF has always been committed to establishing sustainable long-term strategies for predation management, based on scientific facts rather than emotional conjecture.

Furthermore, members are part of the Scientific Assessment for Livestock Predation and its Management in South Africa, which forms the basis for discussion on policy development.

The Assessment contributes towards reducing misunderstandings of predator animals, and sustains both agricultural production and biodiversity. It also ensures that a sustainable livestock industry is a given, and that biodiversity and environmental conservation is taken seriously by the agricultural industry.
