Pafuri Luxury Tented Camp Activities
Northern Kruger National Park

Bring out the khaki and comfortable walking shoes as you head out on one of the trails around Pafuri Luxury Tented Camp. Professionally guided morning and afternoon game drives highlight the biodiversity, scenic splendour and history for which the Pafuri region is renowned.

Hikes and Nature Walks

The Pafuri staff have excellent maps of the region and can advise you on routes. It’s a great way to stretch the legs and broaden the mind as get out into the wilderness. Keep an eye out for dung beetles, chameleons, lizards, and butterflies. These little guys are often overlooked while driving through the park in a car and are just as interesting as the Big 5!

Bird Watching

Book for a bird walk with Pafuri Luxury Tented Camp's special bird guide. Each walk lasts around 2-3 hours as you venture near the Luvuvhu River Bridge, an important birding stop in the Pafuri area.

This is a hotspot for rare sightings. Don't forget your binoculars and watch for those Southern Black Tits, Mottled Spinetails, Red-headed Weavers and the more elusive Arnot's Chat.

Fishing

This tented Kruger Park safari lodge allows access to the Mutale and the Luvuvhu rivers. All year round, guests will have access to a variety of fish between these two.

Your catch of the day will include Tigerfish, Sharptooth Catfish (Barbel), Large Scale Yellowfish, Mozambique Tilapia (Blue Kurper/Bream), Mottled Eel and Purple, Rednosed and Leaden Labeo (all species of Mud Fish).

The Big Tree

While you are at Pafuri Luxury Tented Camp, make sure to take some time to visit the the Sagole Big Tree. It has been claimed that this Boabad tree is the largest Baobab in the world! It is one of the four international claimants to this title and the only one in South Africa.

This old timer is still standing strong at between 2 500 and 3 000 years old. The tree has a circumference of 43 metres and stands 22 metres tall. Unfortunately a section of its trunk has been defaced but nothing detracts from its sheer magnificence.
