The charming Rawdons Hotel and Country Estate is situated in Nottingham Road Village in the Midlands Meander, and offers the perfect countryside retreat. The hotel has a great onsite brewery, where visitors can relax with a pint of beer after a long day of excursions in the surrounding KwaZulu-Natal Midlands area.
The Rawdons Hotel also runs the Rhino Campaign, which is dedicated to supporting Project Rhino. Project Rhino is a province-wide association that focuses on facilitating rhino conservation in partnership with various conservation NGOs, private and community-owned reserves, etc.
The Nottingham Road Hotel is located in the heart of Nottingham Road Village, close to golfing estates, trout fishing dams and the scenic nature of Midlands Meander. The hotel has been the meeting place of travellers for generations.
It boasts with the oldest country inn on the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands Meander and remains a favourite outspan. Apparently, it is home to the ghost of a dead barmaid named Charlotte. She's pretty exuberant and plays practical jokes, like turning on taps and ringing the bell that no longer works. But her real party trick is doing what she did during her working days turning tricks in one of the rooms. So whatever fate befalls you there, you can say it was a ghost that did it. You should perhaps leave out the blonde and beautiful part. There's also something about her waiting for her soldier sweetheart, but the details have been lost with the passing of the pub's older patrons.
