Members of Exotic Leather South Africa

Exotic Leather South Africa is a membership-based organisation with partnerships with various industry bodies and sub-associations such as South Africa Crocodile Industry Association (SACIA) and the South African Ostrich Business Chamber (SAOBC).

Exotic Leather South Africa membership is made up of key roleplayers, partners and bodies in the exotic leather industry such as producers, slaughter facilities, tanneries, manufacturers, retailers and SACIA and the SAOBC.

Exotic Leather South Africa has also secured the support of industry roleplayers such as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Technology Innovation Agency, National Research Foundation, the Department of Environmental Affairs, and the Department of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries. The University of Pretoria partners with the association as a technical collaborator.

Exotic Leather South Africa created a platform for members, roleplayers and partners to contribute their expertise, skills and resources, and to create a community in the industry, share common concerns and come up with cost-effective solutions. Members of the organisation have a responsibility to ensure that there is proper maintenance, clean conditions and quality control in the process of exotic leather production.

Animals are to be treated humanely and bred according to the policies and free range principles negotiated by Exotic Leather South Africa. They’re health is a priority and insects and potential disease are to be removed and monitored to preserve their welfare. Members should also avoid manufacturing and marketing of diseased or poor quality products or engaging in unethical farming management and business practices.

Exotic Leather South Africa and its members are to support each other and actively participate in the association’s affairs in order to create symbiotic relationships that will benefit the whole industry’s economic health and continuity. Membership to Exotic Leather South Africa and its sub-association rests on members adhering to these minimum standards.
