The actual Madikwe Reserve is home to an astounding cross section of game. The Big 5 share the reserve with many different kinds of buck, wild dog and cheetah. It’s a bird watchers paradise with more than 340 different species, some migratory visitors. The original lions were brought in from Etosha in Namibia, as this was a group free of Feline AIDS. Wild dogs stem from a translocated pack that has been nurtured to encourage breeding.
Game drives with highly experienced Madikwe Hill guides take place in the early morning as well as in the late afternoon, leading into dusk. There are a number of mammals that hide during the heat and sunshine of the day, and only start appearing once the sun sets. The guides with their sharp eyes and knowledge of animal habitats will help you discover an evening world so different to the daytime viewings.

Junior Rangers Children’s Programme
Let the kids loose as they complete their ‘fun work’ during the Madikwe Hills Junior Rangers training. Kids can explore nature and learn at the same time. They learn how to track, looking at spoor and droppings, learn about termites and other bugs. Face painting, artwork, treasure hunt and a whole lot of fun, keeps kids of all ages thoroughly entertained throughout their stay.Specialised Activities
