Letaba Rest Camp in Kruger Park is a fond favourite amongst safari-goers due to its stellar location. Nestled in a clearing along the Letaba River, it’s exceptionally well-positioned for game viewing.
From big-name predators like lion and leopard, to burly buffalos and scores of antelope species, the region is jam-packed with wildlife. It’s also particularly well-known for elephant sightings and there is even a museum at Letaba dedicated to the legacy of these large and loveable pachyderms.
While Letaba Rest Camp is predominantly booked out by self-drivers looking peruse the reserve with their own vehicles, Kruger National Park guided game drives are available. These operate twice daily by professional rangers well-acquainted with the lay of the land. Expert-led bush walks also depart in the mornings.
As for facilities on-site, there’s pool and plenty of picnic areas. Overall, the atmosphere is relaxed and easy-going, with resident bushbucks wandering the grounds whilst squirrels and vervets scurry through the surrounding mopane trees.
