The Camp forms the base point for specialised walking safaris in the Kruger National Park, where you can head out into the South African bushveld on foot. Here, 12 000 hectares of wilderness is waiting to be explored. This area is only accessible to guests of the camp, so you can look forward to intimate and personal walks without those lurking tourist hordes. Don't be hesitant about walking. You will be led by highly experienced, armed trackers who are big on safety first.
They will get you just close enough, but not too close where you might feel at risk. Don't be hesitant about camping either. There will be no pitching of tents or shared ablutions. Yes, there is a chance to see rhinos on these walking safaris in the Kruger National Park, but due to poaching, Plains Camp cannot guarantee this.
Besides tracking larger game, you will also learn about insects, birds, plants and wild herbs. Just remember to tread carefully as you go. If you have no concerns about being in the right out in the African outdoors, you might be interested in trying a “sleep out”- a night on an outdoor bed with nothing but a mosquito net between you and the stars. Moms and dads, please bare in mind that the minimum age for guests here is 12 years old.
