This picturesque seaside dorp in the heart of crayfish country may have started off as a humble fishing village, but today it is known as the ‘Diamond of the West Coast’, thanks to its pure, uninterrupted white beaches, blue sea and skies, its abundant marine life and its superb seafood.
A visit to Muisbosskerm, the most famous of Lambert’s Bay’s open-air restaurants is a must! The open-air restaurants along the coast here have become something of an institution and offer unforgettable traditionally prepared seafood and local specialities such as ‘waterblommetjie’ and ‘hotnotskool bredie’, right next to the shoreline, as the sun goes down.
If you’ve visited bird island and are in need of a quick bite, or a seafood extravaganza, you have a number of restaurants right on the right on the edge of the working harbour to choose from.
From Lambert Bay follow the R362 past Doringbaai and Strandfontein, all the way to Nuwerus where you connect with the N7 that takes you north. After about 78km you will reach the small town of Garies.
