Whilst visiting the Kariega Main Lodge you will be able to enjoy twice-daily game drives from the comfort of an open-roof safari vehicle.
Game drives are season and weather dependent but generally take place in the early morning and late afternoon. They allow for close-up sightings of lion, elephant and a wealth other wildlife and bird species. The game rangers provide wonderful insight regarding the behaviour of the wildlife, with the game drives forming the focal point of your experience at the upmarket safari lodge in the Kariega Game Reserve.
In the predator-free Eastern section of the reserve you are able to walk safely amongst more than 25 species of game as well as a large variety of birdlife on an array of well-marked hiking trails. A guided game walk is a favourite amongst fitness enthusiasts and provides you with superb photographic opportunities.
During an early-morning game drive, you will be able to enjoy a magnificent cruise aboard the ‘Kariega Queen’ down the Kariega River. You can bring along your own fishing equipment if you would like to test the waters of the river more intimately.
Family time is precious, kids take their cues and interests from their parents. Therefore at Kariega Main Lodge, kids of all ages are encouraged to join the game drives with their parents. Babysitting is also available if needed.
Between the hours of 11h00 to 14h00 your little ones can join in the children’s programme, which stimulates an interest in wildlife and nature in a fun and educational way.
The play area is ideal for inclement weather or in the evenings when parents want to relax without the kids. It has a TV with wildlife DVD’s to watch. Books, puzzles, games and colouring books to keep them occupied and happy. There is also a table tennis table for the older ones.
All meals at the Kariega Main Lodge are served buffet style and consist of delicious freshly-prepared local specialties prepared by a passionate and experienced kitchen team. Meals are either served in the restaurant or in the outside Boma where the talented lodge staff members entertain dining guests with traditional songs. Weather permitting, dinner is served under the African skies with the Boma only providing shelter if it is raining.
An elegant bar stocking a large variety of wine, beer and spirits is available on the premises and special dietary requirements are catered for with prior arrangement.
