Kariega Game Reserve is a private, family-owned reserve that lies upon 10 000 hectares of pristine wilderness of the Eastern Cape, South Africa. Its location on South Africa’s Garden Route makes it an ideal safari stop to compliment a trip along the scenic coastline to Cape Town.
The reserve offers an amazing wildlife safari experience along with the beauty of the Eastern Cape. With a focus on animal preservation, this unique reserve holds five different eco-systems to explore and discover. This includes valley bushveld, savannah grasslands, fynbos, riverine forests and acacia woodland. Both the Kariega and Bushman's River runs through the reserve.
Other than guided game viewing safari drives, visitors can also enjoy river cruises, guided bush walks, canoeing, river fishing, spa treatments and beach trips by boat. The nearest airport to the reserve is in Port Elizabeth, an 80-minute drive away. The seaside village, Kenton-on-Sea, and Grahamstown, which is known for its historical buildings, are also close by.
The Kariega Game Reserve is a malaria-free zone, making it ideal for children to join in on the adventure. At the reserve, there are plenty of activities to enjoy for the whole family.
