Twice-daily game drives form the centre of your safari experience at the Kariega Ukhozi Lodge situated in the Kariega Game Reserve.
Well-informed, friendly game rangers will take you out in open-roof safari vehicles to enjoy frequent animal encounters. While all game drives are weather and season dependent, they generally take place in the early morning and late afternoon.
The Eastern section of the reserve is predator-free and you are able to walk safely amongst over 25 species of game as well as encounter a large variety of birdlife whilst exploring a variety of well-marked hiking trails. The guided game walks at the reserve are ideal for those looking to stretch their legs, enjoying their beautiful surrounds and taking some time to embrace all your senses.
During one of your early-morning game drives, you will have the option to take an exhilarating cruise down the Kariega River aboard the reserve’s very own ‘Kariega Queen’. If you enjoy the occasional bout of fishing, you are more than welcome to bring your own fishing gear along and explore the river from a more intimate vantage point.
The meals at Kariega Ukhozi Lodge are served in either the on-site restaurant or the outside Boma (in the evening).
Your day starts with freshly brewed coffee and biscuits with a hearty breakfast being served mid-morning after the first of the day’s game drives.
In the mid afternoon, indulge in some tasty treats before heading out for another game drive and sundowners. Returning to camp for some fireside drinks and delicious evening meal.
A well-stocked bar stocks a large variety of wine, beer, ciders and cool drinks.
