Relax in the Wild Beauty - Activities
Garden Route, Western Cape

At Gondwana Game Reserve, the ultimate way to get out into the wilderness to meet the local herbivores and carnivores is by a 4x4 game drive.

Game Drives

Night drives with a spotlight will present you with the opportunity to catch nocturnal creatures such as serval, jackal, bats, owls and perhaps even the more elusive leopard as they skulk around under the cover of darkness.

Guided Walks and Hiking

Guided walks within Gondwana provide an intimate experience with nature. On the guided walks, the passionate and knowledgeable tracker-guides will teach you about the rich botanical heritage of the Fynbos, the medicinal use of the local plants and trees, as well as pointing out the smaller animals that are often overlooked on game drives.

Bird Watching

Gondwana’s landscape is made up of open grass plains, wetlands, rolling fynbos, riverine forests and cliff faces. This array of vegetation types allows for a variety of bird species to call the reserve home. Keep an eye out for Denhams Bustard, Blue Crane, African Fish eagle, Verreaux’s eagle, Secretary bird, Jackal Buzzard, African Stone Chat, Cape Grassbird, Malachite Sunbird, and Bokmakierie - all of these are prominent species in Gondwana.

Kids on Safari

Children between the ages of 6 to 12 years can join the Junior Ranger Experience, which includes game drives specifically aimed to educate and stimulate younger guests. Interactive activities and completion badges are on offer.

As part of the Junior Ranger experience, younger guests will receive a fun ranger’s backpack and safari booklet to fill in throughout their stay. Families with children under the age of 12 years old are accommodated in the Luxury Bush Villas. The Bush Villa offers kitchen facilities and separate en-suite bathrooms and large outdoor deck spaces, which is great for a relaxed family holiday.

Children under the age of 6 are not allowed on game drives, however the lodge team will try to make a family vehicle available for guests with younger children. Alternatively, an exclusive use vehicle can be rented for a surcharge. Babysitting is also offered at an additional rate at Gondwana.

Spa Facilities

Gondwana’s Spa offers a full treatment menu utilizing the luxurious Africology product range, which makes use of South Africa’s indigenous plants. Treatments can be in the double volume treatment room or open air.

Golfing

Gondwana’s nearest golf course is Pinnacle Point, which is a 20 minute drive away. Other excellent opportunities for spectacular golfing include the mountainside Fancourt in George and Simola in Knysna.
