The name Gondwana is derived from the Gondwanaland landmass, which was the name of most southernly supercontinents that existed over one hundred and twenty million years ago. The Swartberg and Outeniqua Mountains, which are visible from the reserve, are the last remnants of Gondwanaland after the continent split to form the Africa that we now know.

The accommodation options reflect the wide open spaces of Gondwana Game Reserve and offer true opulence and privacy. Choose from romantic private suites to private villas, where you’ll be pampered as you reconnect with nature.

The focus at Gondwana Game Reserve is on their guests connecting with nature and Africa, by perpetuating the survival of endangered fynbos species and the upliftment of local communities.
