Carmién Tea is committed to farming in harmony with nature. As rooibos is part of the indigenous fynbos biome of the Cederberg region, they are passionate about conserving and protecting the delicate habitat of their farmlands.
Carmién Tea produces both conventional and organic rooibos tea from prime growing areas such as Piekenierskloof, Nieuwoudville, Wupperthal and Gifberg, which ensures that every tea product is of the highest quality.
The typical Mediterranean climate, ideal temperatures, rainfall and sunshine of the Western Cape offers the natural terroir needed for rooibos to be cultivated in harmony with nature. The sandy slopes and undulating valleys of the rugged Cederberg Mountain Range provide the perfect habitat for Rooibos.
Carmién Tea is a driving force behind community empowerment. Since partnering with Bergendal Farming Operations, Carmién Tea has been able to create a lasting relationship with Bergendal Rooibos, the facility in charge of drying, pasteurising and packing all of their teas.
Their partnership with the Bergendal Worker Trust as well as the Mouton Workers Trust has allowed for farm workers and their dependants to have a shareholding in any Carmién Tea product. Furthermore, the company actively supports community development, and have recently partnered with Ubuntu Citrusdal to broaden women-and childcare in the community.
