As this is, a small reserve game viewing on a much larger scale is recommended in the Addo Elephant National Park.
Game drives are offered in the morning and afternoon. There is also night drives as an optional extra. Each offers a different experience. Here the well trained safari guides are be able to point out animals and birds, as well as talk about their tracks, habits and habitats.
The actual reserve is home to the Big 5 and many different kinds of buck, as well as smaller game and a variety of birds.
Within Kuzuko a cheetah project is running – these animals are not tame, but are able to tolerate human presence. Guests are able to view the cheetah up close and photograph them as never before. While this is part of a game drive, an additional fee is charged which goes to the Kuzuko Foundation for Wildlife Rehabilitation.
Different Game walks are available – there is a “none” Big 5 area for Nature walks with the possibility of seeing Giraffe and smaller creatures. In this safe area there are special walks designed to entertain children. The “none” Big 5 section part of the reserve allows walks to explore the smaller parts of nature such as plants, insects and vegetation.
Big 5 Walk starts with a drive into the reserve searching for animal tracks to follow, to be able to see the animals from a closer vantage point. No under 16’s are permitted on walks in the actual reserve. Walking safaris in the Big 5 areas provide excitement that can only be experienced by the possibility of seeing these beasts roaming free.
For kids under 5 there is Tiny Todd’s, where colouring, puzzles, games and fun keep your little ones entertained in a secure environment. Go on a private kids safari, available for kids from 6 to 99. Explore the big five reserve and learn more about the big and small creatures that live there.
Experience the Karoo the Bushman kids way! Explore caves, nature and the Khoisan painting gallery. Try your hand at recreating the pictures using brushes made from bushes. Ages 8 to 14.
This private reserve was created in an area that was selected as a commercial upliftment project. Over a period of time stock farms were turned into a conservation area supported by the Kuzuko Foundation, with 40,000 acres of land now providing natural habitat for wildlife and the Kuzuko Lodge providing employment for local people.
Dinner is served in either the restaurant or the bush braai boma for a great South African experience. Brunch and an afternoon Karoo tea are a must considering that the pastry chef loves spoiling her guests. Light snacks, desserts and cocktails are available on request, as are special dietary requests and for special occasions such as birthdays!
Conferences, Team Building events and weddings can be booked. Additional features such as dinners, 4X4 trails or potjiekos cook-offs can be added to the team building events. The conference centre can accommodate 48 delegates. A helipad and landing strip are available for fly ins. Weddings also offer variety – a Karoo farm style wedding or a contemporary wedding in the lodge; a theme bush braai or a tented wedding in the Big 5 area – the choice is unusual & exciting.
Khoisan Cave Exploration. The remnants of 400 year old cave paintings can be found in caves in this area. A special Kids Khoisan walk teaches them about these ancient days gone by. A Cosmic Safari presented by game rangers is a star gazing experience with rangers using a laser pointer to indicate astral bodies as you peer through the Kuzuko Lodge stargazing telescope. With the clear skies of this reserve, nights are very different to city skyscapes.
