Although famous for its elephant population, the Addo Elephant National Park is also home to the rest of the Big 5.

Game Viewing

Who share the reserve with many different kinds of buck, as well as 2 types of zebra and spotted hyenas.

Whilst seeking Big Game, be sure to look lower for the smaller animals, higher for the extensive birdlife and don’t forget the special inhabitants like the flightless Dung Beetle indigenous to the area.

Guided game drives into Addo are on 4X4 safari vehicles. The Elephant House has an in-house field guide, an elephant expert with many years' experience who will talk about the habits and history of these amazing beasts.

Bush Dining

Delicious set meals using local fresh ingredients are served by candlelight for romantic dinners in the evenings. Light lunches can be served on the verandas or next to the pool, and picnic hampers can be requested. Special dietary needs can be accommodated if discussed in advance.

Specialised Activities

In addition to the daily Game Drives into Addo Elephant National Park, there are so many activities that can be booked in the surrounding area that time would be your only hindrance.

Horseback Trails, canoeing on the Sundays River, helicopter flips, bird watching or a drive in the nearby private game reserves, great for lion viewing. Historical, agricultural and cultural tours – are some of the opportunities to investigate.

Not to be missed is the Elephant House Safari Tour, which travels to the Addo Polo Club, then to the lookout point where author Sir Percy Fitzpatrick is buried. Sundowners at a lookout point are followed by a visit to the Nomathamsanqa Township. Tours can be arranged to this rural township to learn more about the culture and heritage of the people.

Hikes in the Zuurberg Mountains are a great way to investigate the local flora and birdlife. Include a mountain braai and add this to a list of memorable experiences few people are able to enjoy.
