Viking Aquaculture Products

Viking Aquaculture produces premium quality abalone at its Buffeljags and Diamond Coast abalone farms. They produce succulent mussels in the nutrient-rich waters of Saldanha Bay on the west coast, as well as fresh oysters at its expansive oyster farms in both Namibia and South Africa.

South Africa is the leading producer of cultured abalone in the world, and Viking Aquaculture relies on the Buffeljags and Diamond Coast abalone farms respectively to supply abalone for their range of products. Live abalone are sold in various sizes, and packed according to strict hygiene standards and export legislation.

Viking Aquaculture cans different sizes of abalone as well, which are wild-caught and cultured. The canning factory is situated at Tuna Marine, the company’s Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point compliant processing facility in Hermanus. Dried abalone is also available in a range of sizes, with nutritional specifications per 100g.

Viking Aquaculture is a supplier of fresh oysters, which are sold on both the local and international market. Their oysters come from West Coast Oyster Growers, situated in Saldanha Bay, as well as Lüderitz Mariculture, which is an expansive oyster farm in the Namibian town of Lüderitz. The company sells oysters of various sizes, along with nutritional information per 100g.

Mussels are abundant in South Africa, and easily accessible from the rocky platforms of the Cape west coast. Saldanha Bay is considered a prime site for the culture of the blue mussel, also known as the Mediterranean mussel. Viking Aquaculture source mussels from West Coast Oyster Growers, where mussels are grown on ropes suspended from longlines in the sheltered, yet well-circulated environment of Saldanha Bay. Mussels are sold in fresh and frozen form. Frozen half-shell mussels are a very popular product that now outsells the fresh product.
