Venterskroon is a small town located in the North West province of South Africa. Although it is an old mining town, it is a gem just waiting to be polished. At the moment, it is a virtual ghost town with a few old buildings arranged along a dusty gravel road. However, Venterskroon is located in a beautiful valley in the middle of the Dome Mountain Land, and is a favourite destination amongst travellers.
The thing that makes Venterskroon so special is its character. The old hotel, mining commissioner’s house, prison cells, stables and police station are all in pretty good condition, evoking a bygone era.
The surrounding area is blissfully untouched by modern development and the village seems to belong to a place out of time. The peace is profound.
