Its surrounding Baviaanskloof Wilderness is exceptionally beautiful and worth a visit if you want to experience the tranquility of the Karoo.

The town Steytlerville was established in 1876 and lies in a large farming area where sheep, goats and ostrich are farmed. The town has the essence of a true Karoo dorp, with its Victorian cottages and Edwardian church.
