SOILL Feed Products

SOILL ensures that nothing goes to waste by adding value to by-products, such as canola meal, maize germ and soy meal, produced during the oil refinery and extraction process.

At their Roodekop terminal, Southern Oil (Pty) Ltd specialises in the formulation of energy feed additives, consisting of various blends of high quality crude and refined vegetable oils and animal fats. Some of these generic blends are over 20 years old.

The focus at SOILL’s Blackheath terminal is on refining fish oils for use in animal feed, due to the high yield of omega 3 nutrients in these oils. South African fish oil is in high demand, because of its exceptional quality and the lack of heavy metals and other toxins that are prevalent in other fish sources, according to SOILL.

These Southern Oil (Pty) Ltd products are sold as pre-formulated mixes enriched with other nutrients to supply the livestock and pet food markets with balanced rations, or sold separately allowing farmers to create their own mixes. SOILL also provides free technical support to help farmers formulate blends and make the most of these products.

SOILL is a member of both the Animal Feed Manufacturers Association, AFMA, and the Pet Food Industry Association, PFI, and approved by the Department of Agriculture to export. All their products are registered under the Fertilizers, Farm Feeds, Seeds and Remedies Act 36 of 1947.

Some of their by-products are also sold for industrial purposes.
