The South African Bee Industry Organisation (SABIO) aims to promote and protect the interests of the beekeeping industry both locally and internationally.

SABIO performs a number of services throughout the country and the beekeeping community. They act as an umbrella organisation for all affiliated beekeeping bodies, and they assist with the establishment and promotion of beekeeping associations in all the provinces. They liaise directly with government departments and institutions on all matters affecting the beekeeping sector, as well as independent agricultural sectors with a vested interest in bees.
The organisation also assists with development of research in apiculture, and they liaise with research institutions on matters impacting the beekeeping sector. They keep the beekeeping community informed of current issues, and they also work with international apiculture organisations.
South African Bee Industry Organisation (SABIO) facilitates bee removal services in a safe manner, and they strive to uphold recommended international beekeeping standards and legislation. They offer numerous reports and publications regarding bee health, advice for new beekeepers, best beekeeping practices and additional information on the importance of honeybees.
Furthermore, the South African Bee Industry Organisation supports the development of beekeeping in informal and disadvantaged communities throughout the country.
